After careful consideration of all the current reporting from the world’s leading health organizations, the Executive Committee of APLAR on 24 March 2020, made the decision to postpone the APLAR 2020 Congress to 14-17 November 2020 (with 13-14 November considered pre-congress days for workshops and meetings). The Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception will, therefore, be held on Saturday, 14 November 2020. There will be no change to the congress venue.
The health and safety of our attendees, partners and communities are of the utmost importance, and it is APLAR’s view that a postponement is the best option for the APLAR Congress.
Having extensively consulted with APLAR and JCR stakeholders and partners in advance of making this decision, and with hundreds of early abstracts already submitted, we are confident that the new dates for the APLAR Congress 2020 will provide the foundations required for another successful congress.
Please note that our Congress Secretariat is already reaching out to our invited speakers to re-confirm their availability in November, so as to minimise any program changes. Equally, you will shortly receive communication on the extension of abstract and early-bird deadlines.
We are passionate in our belief that APLAR 2020, as the pre-eminent rheumatology congress for regional practitioners and researchers, should remain the catalyst event for our colleagues from across all of Asia Pacific to look forward to – so that we can come together to re-build a post-COVID-19 world!
Moreover, APLAR 2020 will now be happening at the most beautiful time of year to visit Kyoto. The spectacular and famous autumn colours that surround the convention centre will be a highlight of your visit to this ancient city.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to APLAR 2020 in November – and in the meantime, stay strong and healthy.
